Goal: Introduce the topic of fractions by using pattern blocks, giving students a hands on way to visualize part vs. whole.

Goals: Extend students’ understanding of division with fractions. Students will be given real world problems involving fractions and whole numbers. This will help students extend their understanding of real world connections between fractions, whole numbers and division.

Goals: Students will learn the concept of main idea.

Essential Unit Question: What different strategies are there for solving word problems and what clues can we use to help us?
